The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1
The Lord’s Salvation, and He’s Life;
He is both Hope and Peace in strife;
The Lord, in darkness, is true Light;
In weakness He is Strength and Might.
Those are not things for me to gain,
Since those I can’t myself attain.
He truly is those things FOR ME,
In spite of what I see in me.
Christ gives all of Himself for me.
That He would all of me redeem
Gives, into death, His body’and soul
That mine, like His, would be made whole.
He gifts all of Himself to me
And brings me to Himself that He
Would claim me as His Father’s child,
Through Christ we are now reconciled!
All these—Christ’s promises—hold true:
There’s nothing else He loves to do
Than save me, care for me, and hear
My prayers, which are to Him most dear.
The proof of this is Jesus’ cross
and that His own grave suffered loss,
He, having ris’n, will never die,
And so to me He’s always nigh.
He gifts to me two precious signs
To prove to me that He designs
All things to happen for My good:
His Font and His own body’and blood.
Because of Christ my Lord I’ll sing
In spite of what the world may bring.
I shall not fear nor be afraid—
Christ is fore’er my Life, my Stay.
