For Confirmands

Heavenly Father, of Your great mercy and love You saved us in the death and resurrection of Your Son, Jesus Christ, whom You sent for our redemption, the forgiveness of sins. In Holy Baptism You claimed each of us as Your own dear child, giving us the Holy Spirit as the pledge of eternal life. We thank You for Your Word, for therein the Holy Spirit not only opens our hearts to this great salvation but also our need for it. We rejoice in the forgiveness of sins that Christ not only won for us, according to Your will, but that He delivers the same through His ministers, whom He sends even as You sent Him. We praise You for the salutary gift of the Supper of Your Son’s body and blood. We beg You to strengthen us through the same, in faith toward You and in fervent love for each other. Bless all of us, especially our confirmands, with firm faith, doing so through Your life-giving Word and Sacraments, that we would believe that You have welcomed us into Your eternal favor for Christ’s sake alone; through the merits of the same Jesus Christ, our only Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
