For the preaching of the holy cross of our Lord Jesus Christ
Lord Jesus, bless [ name(s) ] our pastor(s) today as [ he/they ] prepare(s) to preach Your cross and salvation to us this Sunday. Send Your Spirit so that [ he/they ] will understand Your Holy Word, retain it, and also prepare faithful Words for our hearing; we ask this for Your Name’s sake. Amen.

For the sick and dying
Lord Jesus, today is the day of the week that You died. Please be with Your sheep [ name(s) ] who [is/are] near death. Shepherd them through the valley of the shadow of death to seat [ him/her/them ] at the eternal banquet You have prepared for [ him/her/them ]. Keep Your promise to [ him/her/them ] that nothing can snatch [ him/her/them ] out of Your hand. Send a full measure of Your Spirit that [ he/she/they ] believe this promise until the end; for You live with Your Father and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.
