O Jesu, Thou my Savior art
To me Thou dost rich grace impart;
Thine honor great ‘tis me to save
From sin and Satan, death and grave.

In Calv’ry’s gruesome Rood I ween
That Thou hast died for sinners mean;
Our Father’s wrath assuaged hath been
Which promised death for any sin.

The devil’s gins all sundered lie,
Since Thou for us didst gainst him vie;
A mortal wound is e’er his fate,
For Thou hast crushed that serpant’s pate.

O death, vain master, where thy sting?
O death, what fear canst thou now bring?
For Christ, unending Life, our God,
Through thee, thee underfoot hath trod.

O grave, when Christ His three days sped,
Left only thee behind as dead,
And hence, one day, my flesh shall be
By Him from thy weak grasp set free.

O Jesu, glory be to Thee,
For Thy salvation great and free,
Whom with the Father we adore
And Holy Ghost forevermore. Amen.
